Can Individual Animal Management in sheep be a way forward for our industry or is it more effort than its worth? I think there are many takes on this question and many ways in which it could be done, if at all? Throughout this year, I plan to investigate how we can get the best out of our sheep through measurement and objective selection.
As part of my Nuffield scholarship, I will travel to many countries looking at how farmers both within the sheep industry and in other industries are using technology, like RFID, to take measurements and make decisions that result in increased productivity on farm.
The variation in our sheep and lambs amazes me every year. The potential in them completely blows me away and it is this that excites me to finding better and more innovative ways of managing our sheep. This blog will include interesting sightings, discussions and ideas about sheep and agriculture in general and I hope you enjoy following on.
